We are solely dependent on donations from everyone to help fund the Hadley May Foundation. Every penny will go directly to the families, the hospital and research. A large majority of the donations will go straight to helping families cope with this difficulty. Some money will go to research but we hope that we will be able to raise awareness so our government and companies can help with funding for research. We all know in hard times monetary assistance is critical and that is our area of concern.
We will be planning more events in the months to come to raise money for the foundation. Childhood cancer affects so many people. It is not something that only happened to Hadley. Unfortunately, more children, likely even one within our community will be diagnosed with cancer. The children that are diagnosed are typical children who are healthy all of their lives until they are diagnosed with cancer. Although many forms of childhood cancer are treatable, not all children survive. Even 1 child dying from this disease is too many. Researchers and hospitals are in need of resources to further the treatment of childhood cancer. Although many people assume that these needs are taken care of by organizations such as the American Cancer Society, this is simply not true. Thankfully, the American Cancer Society does provide some funding, but it is just not enough. Childhood cancer research is extremely under funded. Additionally, the families of children diagnosed with cancer face tremendous financial burdens. We hope that the Hadley May foundation can assist both researchers and families.
