Hand-In-Paw

A VERY worthy organization. The two months Hadley went through radiation we thought it was going to be grueling!
Instead, everyday she woke up excited to go to radiation because she was ready to see the dogs.
Hand-In-Paw teams gave of their time to bring comfort to Hadley and other kids by giving them something to look forward to.
In the process, teams fall in love with these children and a special bond is formed. We still keep in touch with some teams.
At UAB, the dogs were allowed to go back to the radiation table until Hadley fell asleep and they were waiting when she got out.

LifeSouth Blood Centers

Hadley underwent 3 years of radiation. During that time her immune system got taken for a ride.
She usually felt the worst when her platelets got low or her red cell count was low.
It was wonderful that there was blood and platelets available to get so she could recover faster. This was key in making it through treatments.
It may appear that hospitals are okay but the truth is there is shortages ALL the time.
Donating blood doesn't take much time at all and can be done every 28 days.
Platelets, on the other hand, take anywhere from 1-3 hours to donate. You get to sit in a comfortable recliner and watch movies though.
